The Benefits of Using Live Streaming

In one of our latest blog posts, we discussed the importance of any business to include video marketing in their digital marketing strategy in 2017. We also briefly mentioned the latest feature being offered on many social media platforms such as Facebook and Google+, which is live stream video.

In this blog post we will be looking at the many benefits that live streaming offers, and why any business should greatly consider making use of this content format.  

As Kim Garst writes, “sharing live video broadcasts can help you connect with your prospects and community in a whole new way, making your brand more real, more relatable and more accessible.”

We couldn’t agree more with this statement, and these are the reasons why:

1. Live Streaming greatly increases your audience

The first and perhaps most important benefit of live streaming is that it grows your audience. Why? Because a live streaming event can reach millions of users around the world, giving them access to an event which they otherwise would not have been able to attend or participate in.

This can be seen done in many instances, most notably when Apple live streamed their launch of their iPhone 5 at a conference. 

2. Live streaming reduces costs

This is due to many reasons. For one, some companies make use of live streaming within the company itself for example to train new employees who are in another country. This feature enables people from all over the world to be in the same “room”, receiving the same training, at the same time.

Therefore, this saves the company a lot of money, because the same session would not need to be repeated again. Moreover, opting to live stream an event instead of hosting it somewhere, saves a lot on travel and lodging expenses.  (Plus, did we mention that live streaming only requires a stable internet connection and a good camera?)

All this in turn can generate more benefits in the long run as money saved through live streaming can be spent on time and resources to grow your brand and promote your products.

3. Audience Interaction

Audiences not can interact better with your businesses when they are able to have a ‘face to face’ interaction, but in doing so, businesses can build trust with their customers due to a sense of transparency. Audiences can now even have a sneak peak into their favourite company’s behind the scenes moments.

Some businesses also encourage their audience to interact during the live stream by sending questions and having them answered on the spot. This heavily mimics a normal conversation between people that are both physically present at a particular time and place.

This can be seen done by different businesses, not only those offering a product but also offering a service. For example, fitness coaches find live streaming highly beneficial as they can give advice to their consumers and answer their questions there and then, as well as have the audience be part of their workout routine.

4. People love it!

Live streaming should not only be seen as a means through which businesses can save more and gain more exposure, but should also be seen as a source of excitement for users who feel they are part of a community and can participate without requiring them to be physically present at the event.

5. Live Stream videos can be recorded and uploaded to Youtube

Live stream videos should ideally be later uploaded onto platforms such as YouTube for two reasons; firstly, so that people who could not view the live stream are able to watch it later, and secondly, so that businesses can further benefit from Video SEO. The live video got over 5.6K Views, and many engaged with the video by liking, sharing and commenting whilst the session was being streamed!

The key take away of all this, is to support our claims on the ever-growing importance of video marketing in today’s day and age. When it comes to live stream videos especially, improvements are still being made and we will be expecting many updates to happen in the coming months on different platforms, mainly Facebook. For this reason, it is even more important that businesses take advantage of this current trend and think of how they can utilize it to the best of their interest.
