ANCHOVY. was approached by NexiaBT to create a niche service firm which provides residence & citizenship solutions to high net-worth individuals, as well as family business advisory services. We wanted to create a relatable & trustworthy brand which understands traditional values but also pushes forward to meet contemporary needs; The result was the birth of WAHAAT. Here is how we went from initiating a fitting concept to executing their entire website and brand peripherals:

We wanted to create a relatable & trustworthy brand which understands traditional values but also pushes forward to meet contemporary needs; The result was the birth of WAHAAT. Here is how we went from initiating a fitting concept to executing their entire website and brand peripherals:

Branding

In a nutshell

We wanted to come up with something sleek, modern and versatile so that the brand could live in various applications, as well as have a lifespan which would not go out of style. There was also a premium feel which the client wanted to communicate which was where the colour scheme and certain other choices originated from. Contrasting with this was the need to have a neutral and universal aspect because of the varying cultures and communities that would be targeted by the brand. Lastly, being based in Malta, we also wanted to show some local flair, especially in the imagery.

The Concept

From the get-go we wanted to instill connotations of peace and tranquility, being inspired by nature and then developing abstract marks and symbols which were inspired by certain imagery. However, we also wanted to include the human element, which is where we came up with the idea of incorporating hand worked crafts into the mixture. This resulted in the main mark being inspired by a top view of different sized and shaped ceramics, being reduced to its simplest form but still including a touch of character in the natural placement of the shapes.

Application

Website

With the branding wrapped up, we turned our attention to the website. This had to be both a hub for all the information one would need for these services, but also approachable and easy to understand. We did this by first putting ourselves in the user’s shoes and understanding what they are looking to find. We then mapped out the entire website and designed the interface to display all the text in a digestible manner, dissecting and placing everything considerately and ultimately also beautifully.

Brand Peripherals

Print application

Finally, the client also needed the works in terms of print application – as with most branding projects. We created a full brand book and stationery set, including large printed banner designs to really consider all avenues. We felt that the imagery was a big part of what made the brand relatable and unique, so we wanted to include that even in the printing, so much so that the business cards were created to show different images on each one giving that extra personal touch.
