Cerberus approached ANCHOVY. to come up with a new brand identity for their business. They wanted a modern and approachable identity to communicate their service to their customers online and offline. Here is how we did it.

Cerberus approached ANCHOVY. to come up with a new brand identity for their business. They wanted a modern and approachable identity to communicate their service to their customers online and offline. Here is how we did it.

Branding

STARTING POINTS

Our process began with weekly client touch points where we explored and identified the direction that best suits the client. At this stage we like to hone in on the key brand values and mind-map potential visual keys. This involved presenting various directions to allow the client to clearly visualise his brand while pinpointing issues that needed to be addressed.

Research

We had a great starting point, as Cerberus is a data-driven software company with the intention of fundamentally changing the way iGaming and other digital industries interact with technology. Through team brainstorming sessions we combined their business ethos and values to identify the key visual elements.

LOOKING TO THE STARS

With the name Cerberus being both a mythological three-headed dog and an ancient constellation, we found ourselves gazing at the largely unfamiliar space above all of our heads. We had a look at the modern list of constellations and tried to find a link between the ancient and contemporary. This lead us to Canis Major  — The Greater Dog.

Development

Our next stage is to put pen to paper and sketch some logo mark ideas. As Cerberus is a digital-first company, we were quick to jump into digitising these concepts to discover marks that would work for the brand.

FIRST OUTCOME

After presenting logo solutions to the client, we soon had a clear direction of where to take the brand.

We then went back to the drawing board following a critical analysis of the chosen direction. We solved the issues with the design of the mark and designed type to fit comfortably with the direction.

Applications

We rolled out a selection of business cards, letterheads, presentation templates and clothing that further carried the brands strength through consistent usage of photography, typography and colour. It’s always important to us to evoke brand values throughout applications and because of this, the Cerberus brand has come to portray a stylish, trustworthy and digital-first company.
