Intro

ANCHOVY. was approached to create a brand identity for a new division of Go Beyond, a high end Angel Investment club that they were launching.
The client’s vision is focused on delivering a quality and reputable investment service for premium investors. It was up to us to come up with a suitable name and brand identity for the company. This is what we created:

Initial Phases

Aesthetic Association

We started off by identifying the style of how the client would like to portray the company visually. We did this through exploring imagery together to create a mood and aesthetic that conveys the company, it’s goals, and values.

naming

The client entrusted us to come up with a brand name that fully communicates the identity that we had agreed on.

After several brainstorming sessions and a number of naming exercises with the creative team, we were left with a vast selection of names to choose from. We worked with the client, through our options to find the right fit for the brand, and affter deliberating settled on a name that we feels fully communicates the brand identity.

Development

Type Design

After naming, we continued to define the brand through cementing a logo design, one that brought the name to life, and represented the ethos and aesthetic established. After reviewing the different logo options, we decided to go for a logo that is made out of a serif font, representing the high value identity we wanted to go for.

We worked on a variety of custom type designs to feature the name in writing. This process required a lot of sketching. We kept an elegant yet strong feel while also modernising and refining it, which ultimately delivered a very attractive logotype.

Icon Design

We worked on further delevoping the logo and identity with the incorporation of an accompanying icon and design element for the brand.

We worked on a variety of designs to feature independently, and with the logotype. This process required a lot of experimentation and directions. This resulted in an icon that is modern, clean, minimal yet intriguing.

colour scheme

The Over & Above brand maintains a smiple, and strong elegance through its colour scheme. The primary colour palette consists of a slate black, and an ivory white, and a bronze gradient.

The slate and ivory provide a simple and refined elegance while the bronze metallic accent highlights the value without appearing garish.

typefaces

The Over & Above brand consists of two font families. The primary font, mainly used for title sections, is Libre Baskerville. The secondary font, used for body text, is Open Sans.
